songs played on tour

There were 83 scheduled Jethro Tull concerts in 1982, and only one (TV appearence) in 1983.
This page lists April/May '82, whilst June-Dec. & 1983 dates are here.

We're still unsure of several setlists - can you help?
Please also let us know if you can identify any of the 3 unidentified venues.

'Broadsword' Tour, with Peter Vettese on keyboards and Gerry Conway on drums.
1/4/82DrammenshallenDrammen, Norway

Set was almost the same as 2/4/82, including 'Reynard The Fox' (see below), plus 'Too Many Too' and, uniquely, 'Down At The End Of Your Road'.
2/4/82IsstadionStockholm, Sweden
 On Ice or Stockholm '82

Not the Clasping The Weathercock At Midnight bootleg, which was taken from a KBFH recording misattributed as being of this show. It wasn't (this has now also been confirmed by an audience member). The Beasties boot is definitely from the same source recording, which suggests Clasping... is from the 28-30/04/82 shows. The following is the correct 8/4/82 setlist, not that of the bootleg.
The KBFH recording contributed a track (Seal Driver) to the '25th Anniversary' box set and five to the '20 Years' box set; the latter's booklet claims the show also contributed 'Fallen on Hard Times' to that release, but there's no record of it having been played here!
Intro, Clasp, Hunting Girl, Pussy Willow, Broadsword, Jack-In-The-Green, One Brown Mouse, Seal Driver, Heavy Horses, Weathercock/Fire At Midnight/Keyboard w.Drums/Sweet Dream, Flying Colours, Songs From The Wood, Watching Me Watching You, The Swirling Pit, Pibroch/Black Satin Dancer (inst.), Beastie, Too Old To Rock'N'Roll..., Aqualung, Minstrel In The Gallery, Locomotive Breath/Black Sunday (inst.), Cheerio

Not performed - scheduled at the outset of the tour, but cancelled, presumably in favour of a second show in Hamburg on 10/4 instead.
10/4/82UK release of 'Broadsword And The Beast' Highest chart position: 27
10/4/82Kongress Zentrum HalleHamburg, Germany

Not performed - cancelled on 8/4.

Date confirmed, contrary to 'official' schedules claiming this show was on 6/5/82.
Scheduled to start at 21:00 in a tent used earlier in the day for a flower show. The venue became unavailable at the last minute, and the concert was cancelled.
19/4/82US release of 'Broadsword And The Beast' Highest chart position: 19
19/4/82Palais des SportsMontpellier, France

Venue confirmed. A magazine article published before the tour states it was scheduled to be the Sirene Triangle, but a newspaper report from the day or week of the show says it was the Palais des Sports, verified by an audience member.

Ian interviewed by Richard Skinner for the BBC. Broadcast on the BBC Rock Hour, but it's thought this was a later rebroadcast. No live music.

Beasties or Superstars In Concert - a US radio broadcast (King Biscuit?) allegedly comprising tracks from this show, 29/4 & 30/4. Rebroadcast by (US) ABC Radio. Clasping... (see 8/4/82) is probably from the same source, as are the tracks included in the '20 Years' and '25th Anniversary' official box sets.
It is not known which concerts contributed specific tracks, and the broadcast compilations included tracks from other shows, so it is unsafe to list the tracklist here as a likely setlist.
